You all are the best.

Not much new to say tonight...Lilly just (finally) fell asleep and is in her crib. Anna seems to be much better, praise God. Even though these are challenging days, your prayers and your encouraging words to me are truly helping to carry me along. I thank God for each of you.

I forgot to mention something in my last post--last night, in addition to being awakened by Lilly's whimpers through the night, our room phone also rang at about 4am, with an international call from Tom's boss at Eglin. I had to retrieve Tom from Anna's room (remember, she was sick...) to talk to her (with a sleeping baby in the room!). She was calling to officially offer job of squadron commander (the job he has been doing on an acting basis for many months now). He accepted. It means Jared can finish middle school in FL, and anna can finish elementary school, with our next move likely in 2011. What a night!

We'll see what adventures tomorrow (well, maybe even tonight) holds! Thanks again for following and praying. Off to bed with Tom and me now.

I am overwhelmed beyond words to describe the impact your words and video have had on me the past two days. I praise God for your obedience and for His Providence for Lily. We continue to pray for Lily to feel Her Father's peace and for Anna His healing. Can't wait to meet Lily. Rejoicing with your family. The Haynes

Amy,
I hope that your daughter is feeling better today, there is not much worse than vomiting and diarrhea in China!!! Poor thing. Our prayers are with you that she recovers soon.

And you are right about Lily and her persistent personality - it is what helped her survive so be thankful for it, even if it wears you out (and I'm sure it does!). God is with you all and you will be home before you know it! Sandi

Hi we adopted our daughter Jenna (Xiaomeng) from Anyang SWI 06/29/08We sent 5 boxes of clothes, toys and shoes to the orphange about 6 weeks ago. Our daughter picked the clothes, shoes and toys for her friends still there. It warmed my heart today to see your daughter wearing the little red shoes my daughter picked out. We are so glad they are able to use our gifts. Our daughter was 3 when we got her and after 2 weeks of being home was speaking English, it's amzing how fast they learn. We are praying for your family and that your daughter feels better. Our Jenna also had diarrhea the first few days, nerves and food I think.
God bless you all.

Congratulations Tom!!! Great news! That is awesome that the kids will be able to stay in their school for a while longer and that Lilly won't have to get used to another move any time soon... Hope the night was uneventful and looking forward to hearing more from you.

PS: Claire and I saw Tadd this am. He looks great!

So glad to hear your good news

Why Adoption? Why China?

I'm sure that many of you, when you learned that Tom and I were pursuing adoption of a little girl from China, wondered "why?!" We may have taken some of you by surprise, and we thought it might be nice to share some of our thinking about this journey we are undertaking.

Adoption is something that, even from the earliest years of our marriage, we talked about as "maybe someday." The idea of adoption is appealing to us for many reasons. As Christians, we are adopted by God as his children through faith in Jesus. Adoption allows us to provide a child with the needed love, warmth, and financial resources we have been blessed with as a family. Finally, adoption allows us to add to our family at a time when our biological children are old enough to be more self-sufficient, and we are in a position financially to be able to welcome a child into our family in this way. What we hope to gain is an additional family member to love and learn from, and an opportunity to share the joy and love of our family.

We recognize that an adoption will bring unique parenting challenges to our family--especially since we are considering a child with special needs--and it is likely to put unique stresses on our family in a variety of ways. We are grateful for Tom's medical knowledge and for the great medical coverage we get through Tom's Air Force career, and we look forward to providing a forever family for a child whose medical needs might make it more difficult for another family to take on.

Finally, why China? My love for China, the Chinese language, and the Chinese people made China the natural choice. It was never really even a consideration whether to go with a domestic adoption or international; China was simply the natural choice that we immediately pursued, especially since there are so many children in China that need a forever family.
